Upon presenting my concepts to the group and my tutor I realized what the stronger ideas were of the lot and within those ideas, the problems which may arise from the smaller details.
With the toothpaste packaging idea, I wasted aware that because the product will predominantly be in kept in the bathroom, it might need some form of grip or suction on the bottom of the packaging to stop it from sliding.
The concept as a whole was well received but the form needs a lot of work as Tom suggested it looked very similar to the robot R2D2 from the Star Wars movies. Then my peer, Richard said that maybe there should be a shelf or something to rest the toothbrush on.
So my actions for this week is to research how to dispense the toothpaste, the mechanism I will need to house the pump, and i need to find a form that will use minimal plastic. The form will also need to incorporate a comfortable pump action that can be operated with a palm as opposed to a finger like the ones on the market today.
If I was to do the cream applicator, then I will have to solve the problem of how the cream will be dispensed. Tom said to look at other roll-ons like deodorants and see how they work. It he problem I see with the current ones are that they a single ball only and will still need to use your hands to rub it in. Which defeats the purpose of it being an applicator for strong creams.
So my action for this is to research a mechanism that will stop the flow of cream and allows the balls to continue massaging the cream into the skin. Or find a way to allow only a small dose to cover the ball. The form will need to be able to roll around on the back of the hand or knuckles comfortably as it is a bony part of the body.
